Nicola Biasi makes his wine in a breathtaking landscape and has, for many years now, produced a wine that is exciting in every sip over every vintage: Vin del La Neu.
Vin de la Neu is a pure Johanniter, a resilient vine made by crossing Riesling and Pinot Gris. The vines are planted at density of 16,000 per hectare at an altitude of 832 metres a.s.l. We are in Coredo in Val di Non in the Dolomites.
The wine goes through a static decanting in cement baths before the beginning of the alcoholic fermentation. It is fermented and then refined in French oak barrels for 11 months before bottling and aging for a further 14 months before being released on the market.
The 2018 vintage had a cold winter, wet spring and a decisively regular growth of vegetation on a plot of less than a hectare of Nicolas’ land and has produced a truly intriguing wine with a unique profile.
Tasted early but will give the best of itself from 2022 onwards.

Biasi Nicola Johanniter Vin de le Neu 2018.
Born from knowledge and love in an incredible landscape this white gives a primary scene of devastating beauty. Hints of burnt lemon, orange and lime blend elegantly with herbaceous shades of rosemary, thyme, sage and bay. The energy of the background emerges slowly in the glass offering nuances of magnolia, camphor, unripe pineapple and very delicate hazelnut. Medium to full bodied, an enveloping three dimensional enveloping structure which impudently alternates with the savoury attack, the fat in the centre of the palate and a subtle bitterness in the closing. The aftertaste is imposing with traces of a slightly unripe exotic nuance melted together with hints of kiwi and hot white stone. Johanniter in its purest form, grown at 832 metres a.s.l. in the heart of the Val di Non. The aging potential of a select few. Only 491 bottles and 30 Magnums produced in 2018. Better from 2022.
